Before writing this i had nothing in my mind but i felt to write this as this is what we are short of, Teaching as a profession how many might have even thought of this. IT, Executives, Engineering, Medical ... the list will continue when a young mind starts thinking of what he/she should choose as a career that will insure her next 20 years and more. But 99% may not even come close in recognizing Teaching as a profession. If asked " Yes! it can be considered ". What actually generated this negligence is the negligence that we see our teachers facing and moreover our own teachers never encourage us to select the profession of teaching, once this mindset is changed we can at least relieve.
One should be inspired by his teacher, what he learns must be printed in books it should be his experience, his life, his way of attracting the audience towards him. Each of us have the bug within, which can only be mined by the teacher, who with the power of his words and care makes us understand what we are capable of. This reminds me of a simple saying which i modified for my simplicity is "Goldsmith can only value the Gold others can only review it".
Teaching is a process of learning every day and spreading the light of knowledge, a common definition that we can say philosophically. We might have come across many people in the walk of our life that have inspired us one or the other way, most of them are our own teachers. At tender age we may say “i want to be a teacher” but when we grow, the life around us shifts this beautiful thought of ours. In short I can say that most teachers don’t get this unique benefit of learning as they are made to follow the syllabus that they get to teach not a bit of additional data, yet we come across many who provide us more than what we are expected to know.
Shortages of qualified teachers will not be felt in all communities. While wealthy suburban districts may always have an abundance of applications, urban and disadvantaged rural districts often find it difficult to attract and retain qualified teachers. It is usually the schools in high-poverty communities that, faced with shortages of qualified teachers, hire teachers who are not fully qualified to teach. For example, the Commission reported that students in the schools with the highest minority enrollments--usually schools in high-poverty areas don’t even have teachers that are qualified enough to in the subjects they teach, Due to this many schools and colleges are often forced to least qualified teachers. Millions of school children who could benefit most from effective teaching are denied acc1ess to a quality education. This is a fundamental issue of right to equal education.
"It is often said that an education system and ultimately a nation can be no better than its teachers. Therefore, as we strive to attain excellency in our nation, we must nurture and support excellency in the teaching profession," . Teaching is a profession where we can feel proud as we are part of the nation building process. Teachers are most basic educational resource of any social circle when they are talented, well prepared and dedicated we are building a strong base for the future of our society.
The country today faces the lack of driving forces that can empower the teaching and teachers. The policy makers must understand that what we lack is a qualified bunch of teachers and if provided the facilities we can attract many youths to the field of teaching. Today many volunteer themselves to teaching, the quality of education that they offer is great just because the dedication they put into it.
